Sign Savvy: A Dictionary & Phrase Builder For American Sign Language

American Sign Language (ASL) is the third most common non-English language used in the United States behind Spanish and Chinese. We have a new tool at the library to help you learn it, introducing Signing Savvy!

American Sign Language (ASL) is different from spoken languages because it is a visual language and it is difficult to learn ASL from a book alone. Static images on a page and text just do not convey the flow and motion of the language. Using Signing Savvy’s video dictionary and related tools can help you learn and practice sign language. It is also a great reference to use on-the-fly when you need to know a particular sign.

Head over to Signing Savvy either through our databases page or through this direct link. Click ‘Sign Up’ and create your personal account and away you go for unlimited access. Once you have an account you can also use the convenient Signing Savvy mobile app.
