Special Collections is excited to invite patrons to view the special Women’s History month exhibits on display at the Main Library and online! The exhibit explores over 100 years of Baton Rouge women fighting to make this city a better place for all of its citizens.
You’ll learn about the history of the Baton Rouge General Hospital and the Charity Ward Association ladies who, time and time again, came to the rescue of that institution; the Woman’s Suffrage Movement in Baton Rouge and Louisiana; the first women to be elected to political office in East Baton Rouge; and women educators committed to protecting the rights of their marginalized students.
The physical display will be available in Special Collections at the Main Library for the entire month of March! Access the online exhibit from the Baton Rouge Room Infoguide or the Library’s page on Google Arts and Culture!
