The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched the World Digital Library. This partnership with institutions around the world, available in seven languages, has a mission to provide free access to primary materials to promote cultural understanding. The site will be continually expanding as new contributions are added.
Some of the great items available to view include photographs of Lincoln, historic maps, memoirs dating back hundreds of years, and a translation of Aesop’s Fables in German from 1479 to name but a few. All these items are online in incredible high quality.
