Summer Reading Kicks Off Today

Join us at the library to make sure your summer is packed with great books, fun programs, and fabulous prizes. With a program for every age group, everyone can participate! All locations of the Library will have reading logs for each age group (Children, Teens, and Adults). These logs will be available until the end of July. While each group has a different theme and guidelines, the goal is the same: READ!

Every Hero Has a Story is this year’s theme for the Children’s Summer Reading Program. Summer activities will feature events that spotlight the performing arts, visual arts, literature, and science – all showing children how to tap into their creative sides. Children will receive a free book and special incentives just for reading! Ages Birth-11. For more information, call 231-3760.

The theme for the Teen Summer Reading Program this year is Unmask! Once you read six books, you’ll get a prize pack which includes includes a backpack, mason jar mug, a superhero rubik’s cube, and a superhero footbag. Prize packs will be available while quantities last, and winning tickets are drawn each Monday for cool prizes. The top reader in the parish will receive an iPad mini, donated by OverDrive! Teens grades 6 to 12. For more information, call 231-3770.

The Adult Program, Escape the Ordinary, for ages 18 and up, will be filled with a variety of interesting events. Adults are asked to read three books in order to receive a summer prize pack which includes a library tote, and there will be weekly drawings for various prizes. One of the three books can be substituted by attendance to any adult summer program. The last day of Adult Summer Reading is July 31. At the end of the program, a special drawing will be held for all participants. Call 231-3740 for more information.
