The Caldecott and Newbery awards are some of the most prestigious available in children’s book publishing.
The Caldecott award for 2012, for best American children’s picture book, went to A Ball For Daisy by Chris Raschka. Also getting honorable mentions were Blackout by John Rocco , Grandpa Green by Lane Smith, and Me…Jane by Patrick McDonnell.
The 2012 Newbery award for the most distinguished American children’s book went to Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos. Honorable mentions were Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai and Breaking Stalin’s Nose by Eugene Yelchin.
