Living at the South Pole might not be your idea of a great time, but scientific researchers are really into it. For 50 years, the U.S. has maintained a research station at the South Pole and operated it year-round.
This video talks a little about the history of the station, but its main focus is the newly constructed station building that allows researchers to live in relative comfort (compared to previous stations, anyway).
