Smarthistory is a must for art lovers and those interested in art history. This free site was set up as an alternative to expensive art history textbooks. The presentation is great and it’s a very user friendly site, with art separated by artist, style, theme, and time period.
One of the coolest aspects of the site is the many videos that discuss an artist or piece; nearly 200! They also have a great blog. A large amount of art history is covered in some depth, the site is well worth exploring.
