Shiver me timbers! Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day at the Carver Branch Library on Wednesday, September 19th. Visit our wonderful language learning database Mango Languages beforehand and pick up some pirate phrases. Yes, Mango Languages has a course in Pirate! When you’ve learned some phrases, speak them to a Reference staff member at Carver and ye will be given a share of the Carver pirate treasure horde. Yo-ho-ho!
Dressing as a pirate is highly encouraged! To access Mango Languages, on our website go to Online Databases, login with your library card, and choose Mango from the list. While you’re there, check out all the other language courses we have available.
For the younger ones, there is also a pirate program at the Central Branch Library on the same day starting at 3:00pm. Children ages 3-6 will listen to Pirate Pete’s Talk Like a Pirate by Doug Kennedy and make a pirate hat.
