Build and Paint Warhammer Miniatures

Join us for a miniature painting workshop at the Main Library at Goodwood on Saturday, December 16, 2-4 p.m. Learn the basics of base-coating and highlighting as you paint heroic Stormcast Eternal and a cunning Guitrippa from Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, a tabletop wargame set in an epic fantasy world of unending war! Models, paints, and brushes are provided through the Warhammer Alliance program with libraries and schools, but supplies are limited. Registration is required. A Dulcimer and Drums Holiday Concert Series- December 16-22, 2023

Madam Dulcimer and Lady Chops are teaming up to bring lively holiday music to the Library! Join us for this exciting concert that will entertain the whole family! Madam Dulcimer (Amanda Roberts) is a renowned musician who won the 2017 National Hammer Dulcimer Championship. The hammered dulcimer is a percussion instrument with 111 strings and is struck with handheld hammers. It is quite the treat to hear one in person! She will be accompanied by percussionist Lady Chops (Elizabeth Vidos) of the Off-Broadway show STOMP. The duo recently performed at the 2023 New Orleans Jazz Festival, and the Library is pleased to host them for the holidays! Here Comes the Bells, So Many Bells – Lady Chops

Lady Chops will visit three Library branches to celebrate the season with her exciting holiday program, Here Comes the Bells, So Many Bells! You’ll be rockin’ the holiday hits during her high-energy, interactive one-woman drumming show for all ages. Lady Chops (Elizabeth Vidos) has performed with the Off-Broadway show STOMP and at the 2023 New Orleans jazz festival. Join us as we ring in the season with fun, festive music for the whole family! Free Saturday Tutoring

The Baton Rouge Magnet High School Beta Club will be offering FREE tutoring services on Saturday, December 16 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Main Library at Goodwood! Beta members will offer help to elementary, middle, and high school students. See subjects offered below. Only 60 spots are available each Saturday. Registration is required.   • Elementary students: English, Math, Science, and Reading
  • Middle Schoolers (6th grade – 8th grade): English, Math, and Science
  • High schoolers: English, Math (9th – Calculus), and Science
  • Upon advanced request, they will provide tutoring in French, Spanish, and Latin.
