The Career Center

The Career Center, located in the River Center Branch Library, offers valuable resources to job seekers or those seeking a career change. There you can access the specialized Career Center collection with books on careers, resumes, cover letters and  interviewing. The Career Center also holds workshops on a variety of topics and a professional career counselor is available by appointment.

On the Career Center site itself you’ll find self-assessment tests, job fair event information, job postings, quality employment websites and information about different careers. Head over to the Career Center and take advantage of these free services or call (225) 381-8434 for more information.

Cookbooks From Your Favorite TV Shows/Movies

While you’re watching some of your favorite movies and TV shows, why not add some fitting food and drinks to enhance the experience! Some of the connections to the recipes might be a bit of a stretch, but the books are entertaining. Pop in a DVD/Blu-ray and settle down with delicious food and drink from these books. Free ACT Practice Test

Teens can sign up to take a free practice ACT test, sponsored by the Princeton Review. The test will take place on Saturday, September 22, 9:30-1:00pm at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library.

The test will be followed by a review session on Tuesday, October 2nd 6:30pm, when scores will be returned.

Online registration is required and can be completed through PrincetonReview.com.

Recycled Reads Book Sale

Are you looking for a bargain? Visit our Recycled Reads Library Gift Book Sale. Here you can pick up some great buys from the large number of books donated to the library. Whatever your favorite fiction genre and non-fiction preferences, there is sure to be something for you.

The Recycled Reads sale is once a month on the last Saturday of the month. This month’s sale is August 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Proceeds of the sale go to the Patrons of the Public Library, the Library’s friends group. The Patrons of the Public Library help in funding children’s programming during the summer and throughout the year, such as the Author/Illustrator Program and other programs designed for the community.
